The Building

The office and multi-purpose space

  • Two floors with permanent and flexible office space

  • A large multi-purpose room

  • An awesome teaching kitchen

  • Some flexible work spaces

  • Small Group spaces

If you are a small business or nonprofit organization that is looking to ground yourself in community, this might be the place for you. Get in touch with us to find out about flexible and long-term leasing opportunities!

Affordable housing space

  • 20 one-bedroom fully furnished apartments with high ceilings, energy efficient appliances, internet, laundry facilities and lounge areas

  • A live-in superintendent on each floor to support tenants, manage the property inside and out, and play a role in creating community within the building for the men who will live there

The tenants will be carefully selected from the Housing Assessment & Review Team (HART) wait list.

They will be men, aged of 19 to 55, who would benefit from subsidized rents and some supports for things like help with setting goals, managing a budget, getting a job, going back to school, building healthy relationships, connecting with services in the community like doctors, counselors, and so on; things that will help the men achieve a greater level of self-sufficiency.

Programs

The John Howard Society will bring some basic programs to the building such as job search counseling, GED, and food security programs. Visions United will be holding church services on Sunday morning and will bring other activities throughout the week such as choir practice, and book club.  The new Hub partners will bring other programs and services that will be essential in achieving the communities goals,

Soon we’ll be adding dates on our website for community engagement activities, to find out what the nearby community wants to see in the Hub.

We want to know what you love about your community, what your hopes and dreams are for your community. The Hub is where it can happen!

To help you get thinking about the options, here are some ideas that we’ve seen in other Hubs:

  • Free Tax clinic

  • Toy lending library

  • Small appliance lending library

  • Cooking classes

  • Pancake breakfasts

  • After school homework program
